Transportation secretary hires new agency officials

Vermont’s new transportation secretary has announced some of her staff and also says she wants to reorganize her agency.

Secretary Patricia McDonald has named James Tolley of Essex Junction will be deputy secretary of the agency. McDonald also has hired former Randolph and Pittsford town manager Melvin Adams as policy and planning director. And former House Majority Leader John LaBarge will be principal assistant to the secretary.

McDonald says she wants to reorganize the Transportation Agency into five divisions and departments, merging some of them.
