A civil suit over the estate of a teacher accused of killing his wife is headed to trial.

Stephen Bolesky of Shaftsbury, a longtime teacher at Mount Anthony Union High School, died of brain cancer in June 2007 while awaiting trial in the 2006 slaying of his wife, Constance.

Bolesky’s will left most of his estate to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Her sister, Mindalyn Gaunt, is suing Bolesky’s estate for wrongful death. Jury selection begins Tuesday.

Bennington Superior Court Clerk Betty Loftus says lawyers may settle the case before trial, but no settlement has been reached yet.
