Two Canadian boaters are safe after being stranded on Lake Champlain yesterday.

Rescue crews from all over Franklin County were joined by a Border Patrol helicopter, the Coast Guard and Canadian rescuers, to search for the stranded power boat.

First responders gathered in Swanton to set up a headquarters.

Officials say the boat’s engine quit and the pair became stranded in shallow water. They were eventually found near the Rock River Bridge in Highgate.

Officials say the boaters were cold, but fine.
