Vermont State Police say two skiers who left the main trails on Killington Mountain and then became separated have been found.

Authorities say Trevor Smith and Christopher Feehan, both from New Jersey, were helped off the mountain at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, 5 ½ hours after they each became lost and called for help.

State police began tracking the two 21-years-old skiers using GPS and they eventually found one another. Smith said he’d gotten wet during his descent, began suffering fatigue and became incoherent. The Killington ski patrol sent in four members to assist him after he reportedly became unconscious.

Smith and Feehan were later checked by medical personnel and released.

Vermont State Police say this season has seen an unacceptable number of skiers, primarily at Killington Mountain, intentionally leaving ski trails and calling for assistance after becoming lost. They say this is a drain on resources, and they say the will be working with Killington to curtail the number of skiers who get lost and are unprepared to deal with winter conditions.
