A union representing telecommunication workers is complaining that FairPoint Communications Inc. is outsourcing 34 jobs that were supposed to come to Vermont.

A representative of FairPoint, which is taking over Verizon’s land lines in northern New England, told legislators yesterday that the company intended to move the credit collections jobs to Vermont but changed its mind based on the economy.

Don Trementozzi, a representative of the Communications Workers of America, says FairPoint promised during April contract negotiations to move the jobs to Vermont and is going back on its word.
