The University of Vermont, already one of the most expensive public institutions in the country, is to become more so in the fall.

UVM trustees this weekend voted to raise tuition 6%, to $10,422 for in-state students and more than $26,300 for students from outside Vermont.

The school also is raising most room and meal plan rates by 4-5%. Student fees are climbing 9.4%.
