Vallee says development would endanger wetlands

A key Republican Party strategist is fighting a housing development proposed for the land next to his home, saying that among other things it would encroach on wetlands and wildlife corridors. Vermont Republican National Committee representative Skip Vallee is battling a 310-unit subdivision planned for the land next to the 30 acres Vallee owns on the South Burlington-Shelburne line.

Vallee, who is a fuel distributor, says he’ll fight the proposal at every level if the Burlington developer doesn’t respond to his concerns. In a letter to the South Burlington Development Review Board, Vallee’s lawyer says the development calls for too many units, and as designed would encroach on wetlands and wildlife corridors.
