The Vergennes police chief faces embezzlement and other charges. Chief Michael Lowe already had been accused last month of driving under the influence of drugs.

The Vermont attorney general’s office says Lowe has been cited into court.

He’ll face charges of embezzlement by a public official; neglect of duty; possession of a depressant, stimulant or narcotic drug. He’s also accused of two counts of obtaining a prescription by fraud or deceit.

The DUI charges came after Lowe hit a parked car with his police cruiser.

Lowe is due in court in Middlebury to answer the latest charges on August 24th.
