A disciplinary hearing has been postponed for Vergennes Police Chief Michael Lowe, who is facing drug and embezzlement charges.

Lowe’s attorney, Richard Goldsborough, says the City Council meeting that had been scheduled for Tuesday will take place some time in September.

Lowe has been on paid administrative leave since a June 7 traffic accident, in which he was accused of driving under the influence of drugs. He denies it.

On Monday, Lowe will be arraigned on charges of embezzlement by a public official, neglect of duty, possession of a depressant, stimulant or narcotic drug and two counts of obtaining a prescription by fraud or deceit.

Goldsborough says the embezzlement charges don’t involve money.
