The Vermont Studio Center is an artist’s colony in a collection of buildings in the former mill town of Johnson.
Painters, writers and sculptors come from all over the world to spend a month or longer finishing a project or hoping for a breakthrough.
But the center hosts a special week in May exclusively for Vermont artists and writers. The artists accepted for the week-long residency get a studio, hot meals and uninterrupted time to pursue their art.
VPR’s Susan Keese spent a day at the Studio Center to see what happens when fifty Vermont artists are turned loose in utopia.
