Vermonters who want to keep their gardens alive better take care tonight. The first frost of the season is being forecast with temperatures expected to dip into the 20s.

The National Weather Service in South Burlington says temperatures will stay below 60 degrees today and then fall after dark with clear skies and dry air.

Forecasters expect most towns to have temperatures in the 20s and low 30s by dawn tomorrow. Forecasters say Burlington’s record low of 32 degrees, set in 1959, could fall tonight.
