The Vermont Transportation Agency is going to be getting about $1 million in federal help to pay for two projects to improve the Amtrak passenger rail system in the state.
The Vermont money is part of a $30 million package nationwide for 15 projects.
In Vermont, the money will help the state rebuild two miles of track on the Clarendon and Pittsford Railroad on the route of the Amtrak Ethan Allen, which runs between Rutland and New York.
The other Vermont project will replace one mile of rail and rebuild four bridges on the New England Central Railroad. The Amtrak Vermonter operates on that track between St. Albans and Washington.
