Ten more Vermont National Guard soldiers are headed to Iraq. The soldiers left Vermont Monday for Fort Dix, New Jersey, where they will receive additional training before being sent to Iraq.

National Guard spokeswoman Veronica Saffo says the soldiers are replacements for casualties the Vermont Guard has suffered in Iraq. Three Vermont National Guardsmen have been killed in combat, a fourth died of natural causes in Kuwait. Several additional soldiers are recuperating from wounds and are unable to rejoin their unit.

The Vermont Guard members are providing security in central Iraq.
