Vermont has second case of swine flu

The Vermont Department of Health says a second case of swine flu has been confirmed in the state.

The Health Department says a sample from a Windsor County adult tested positive May 19 for the H1N1 influenza virus.

The state says the individual was not hospitalized and is recovering.

Vermont’s first swine flu case was confirmed on May 9.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says 47 states and the District of Columbia have had a total of 5,710 confirmed and probable cases.

Worldwide there have been almost 10,000 confirmed cases.

In the United States there have been eight fatalities.
