(Host) The Vermont National Guard deployed two soldiers Wednesday to Central Command in the Middle East. The personnel are from the 158th Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard. The civil engineers’ duties in the Central Command Area will include maintaining facilities and equipment.

Captain Jeff Roosevelt of the Vermont National Guard says recent developments in Baghdad don’t make deployment any easier:

(Roosevelt) “You know, it’s still the same feelings. They are leaving their loved ones here and they’re going for an indefinite period of time. And there’s still a lot of factors unknown out there that concern the Guard member.”

(Host) The deployed soldiers will be serving in the Persian Gulf for an unspecified length of time.
