Vermont National Guard engineers return to U.S.

   COLCHESTER, Vt. (AP) _ About 80 Vermont National Guard engineers are back in the United States after spending almost a year on the ground in Iraq.
     The members of the 131st Engineer Company arrived Monday at Fort McCoy, Wis..
     The soldiers will do paperwork and other chores over the next few days before they return to Vermont.
     The Vermont Guard commander, Maj. Gen. Michael Dubie, and other officials welcomed the soldiers home in Wisconsin.
     While in Iraq, the Vermont engineers served as part of a battalion led by the Arkansas National Guard.
     Collectively, the engineer battalion cleared more than 1,200 roadside bombs.
