Vermont has been ranked third lowest in the country in its rate of workplace fatalities. A study done for the AFL-CIO labor group found Vermont had six worker deaths in 2001. That’s for a rate of two deaths per hundred-thousand workers.
New Hampshire and Massachusetts had workplace fatality rates slightly lower than Vermont’s. Alaska, Montana and Wyoming had the highest fatality rates.
