Vermont sells frozen cow embryos to Argentina

Vermont dairy farmers have a new market –Argentina.

The state recently sold 50 frozen Holstein embryos to the South American country.

Vermont Agriculture Secretary Roger Allbee says Argentina has been building its dairy industry in recent years and Vermont has some of the highest quality dairy animals in the world.

The Vermont embryos sold for 600-dollars each.

Allbee says the trade mission will help to improve dairy quality in Argentina and offers another way for Vermont dairy farmers to diversify their businesses.

The deal took four years to complete.
