The U.S. Department of Agriculture says a Vermont slaughterhouse has recalled a ton of ground beef over an E.Coli outbreak.

The federal agency says ten cases of the illness have been traced to meat from Vermont Livestock Slaughter and Processing in Ferrisburgh.

The USDA says the beef was shipped to distribution centers that in turn deliver to restaurants and institutions in Vermont and Plattsburgh, New York.

The owner of the slaughterhouse, Carl Cushing, says the recall was voluntary.
