Vermont’s state auditor is back in the United States. Tom Salmon was deployed to Iraq last summer with his Navy Seabees unit.
Tom Salmon returned from overseas Friday and is going through demobilization processing in Mississippi. He’s expected back in Vermont on Thursday.
Salmon is enlisted in Navy Mobile Construction Battalion No. 27, of Brunswick, Maine. He won re-election to the auditor’s job last November, despite being unable to participate in his own campaign because he was on active military duty.
He says he’s now looking forward to doing his part for the "war at home" – meaning the economic recession gripping America.
