The College Board, which administers the SAT and other student assessments, has issued a report saying that Vermont students are doing pretty well on those tests.

It says that over the past decade, Vermont’s college-bound high school seniors have increased their average SAT verbal scores by 12 points, and their math scores by 14 points. And, it says, larger numbers of Vermont students are taking the test.

About 5,500 of this year’s graduating seniors took the exam. That’s two thirds of all the state’s graduating seniors. The report says scores and participation continue to rise throughout the New England states.
