Next year, Vermont will host a national conference of Medicaid directors.

The meeting of representatives of all 50 state Medicaid programs is expected to be held in the Burlington area.

Governor Jim Douglas says Vermont was chosen because it has been a leader in reforming the program that provides health insurance to the poor.

The National Association of State Medicaid Directors brings together the people who operate the health programs in each of the states.

The programs are partnerships between each state and the federal government.
