Vermont’s unemployment rate is down.

The Department of Labor says the unemployment rate dropped in March to 3.3%.

The unemployment rates for Vermont’s 17 labor markets went from a low of 2.2% in Hartford to a high of 6.6% in Newport.

A year ago, the unemployment rate was 3.5%.

Labor Commissioner Patricia McDonald says the job performance in the leisure and hospitality sector was disappointing and held down steady job growth.
