Vermont dodged the ravages of Hurricane Sandy two weeks ago… But up and down the Eastern Seaboard many people are still suffering – and still worried about heat and survival.  As VPR’s Kirk Carapezza reports, Vermonters affected by Tropical Storm Irene are organizing to help survivors of Sandy.Green Mountain College in Poultney has euthanized one of its farm oxen. The animals were at the center of an uproar over the college’s decision to process the animals into meat. Congressman Peter Welch is going to be talking about his priorities for the lame-duck session.  A Vermont group that opposes allowing terminally ill patients to request a doctor’s aid in dying says the Election-day defeat in Massachusetts of a similar proposal was the correct step. Vermonters who want to advise Governor Peter Shumlin’s administration as officials draft next year’s state budget have two chances to do so in the next two weeks.
