A Vermont auto parts manufacturer will cut about 50 jobs after moving one of its production lines to a sister plant.
NSK Steering Systems America will move the work to Dyersburg, Tenn., by October. A company human resources official says employees were notified Monday.
Beset by a crumbling auto industry, NSK has been scaling back since last fall. The company has laid off 200 employees, shortened the work week and ordered a 5 percent pay cut. Employees with senior management jobs absorbed a 10 percent cut.
The company’s workforce stands around 250 full-time employees. The company also has 30 part-time workers.
