VT Edition: Families coping with deployment

In the coming months 1500 members of the Vermont National Guard will finish their training and deploy to Afghanistan.  The effects of the year-long deployment will be felt acutely by the soldiers’ families.  Among them are Larry and Melissa Doane and their three children. Captain Doane, who’s a VPR commentator, commands Bravo Troop first of the 172nd Cavalry of the Vermont National Guard.

Recently, the couple sat down with VPR’s Steve Zind to talk about how they’re preparing for his deployment.
