Poet Galway Kinnell has been described as a writer who has the ability to flesh out music, raise the spirits and break the heart. Since 1960, the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winning poet has made his home in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. As part of a celebration of National Poetry Month, VPR’s Jane Lindholm talks with Kinnell about his life in verse, and why he believes poetry still matters in the 21st century.
