Vermont has added the equivalent of a Burlington-sized city to its population four times since 1970. Is the state’s expanding population a threat to our environment and way of life? Or are Vermont’s low birth rate and the out-migration of young adults hampering our economic growth? George Plumb is president of Vermonters for a Sustainable Population and the author of the study "Disappearing Vermont." Chip Sawyer is a census data specialist with the University of Vermont’s Center for Rural Studies. They speak with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about the population debate from all sides.
