Dan Habib and his family live in Concord, New Hampshire. He describes himself as being a pretty ordinary dad – with two sons who love sports, and a happy family. But when his youngest son Samuel was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, Dan and his wife Betsy began a long journey of understanding the disability and how to make life as rich as possible for their son. He’s produced a documentary about their effort to keep Samuel as integrated as possible in his school.

Habib and Michael Giangreco, a professor of education at the University of Vermont, spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about the workings of inclusive classrooms. The film Including Samuel will be shown at UVM’s Center on Disability and Community Inclusion on Monday, February 11.
