Vermont currently has 64 school superintendents spread throughout the state. Last year nearly a third of them left their positions or changed districts. And six openings are already known for this coming July.

Winton Goodrich, Associate Director of the Vermont School Boards Association says there’s been an upward trend of more superintendents leaving their jobs.

Jeff Francis is executive Director of the Vermont Superintendents Association. Mary Moran is Rutland City School District Superintendent. And Bob McNamara is Washington West Supervisory Union Superintendent. They spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about the issue.
