As military operations continue in Afghanistan, a number of civilians from our region have forged their own ties to the country and are working with Afghan people to promote education, opportunity and the rule of law.
Jennifer Fluri is a Dartmouth faculty member and a frequent visitor to Afghanistan, Julie Peterson works with women judges from Afghanistan. Jonathan Hoffman is a Vermont teacher who spends his summers in Afghanistan distributing funds he raises for new schools and other projects. They spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about their work.
