Every day we make choices in how much and what to consume– and for many of us those choices are complicated by concerns over our carbon footprint.  But one UVM Professor says when we follow our need to consume and do so responsibly, we can actually benefit society as a whole.

VPR’s Jane Lindholm talks with Saleem Ali, an Associate Professor of Environmental Planning at the University of Vermont’s Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources.  In his new book, Treasures of the Earth:  Need, Greed, and a Sustainable Future he argues that responsible consumerism helps societies make new discoveries and advances in technology.
