When most people think of comic books they think of Archie and Superman, not Iran and Lebanon; Jughead and Wonderwoman, not sexual identity, political violence, and complicated family dynamics.  But that’s changing.

VPR’s Jane Lindholm talks with James Sturm, the co-founder of the Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction about the new testimonial graphic novel, the renaissance in cartooning, and the way his students are learning to tell complicated stories in visual form.  We also hear from New Yorker cartoonist and South Burlington resident Harry Bliss.
