The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department is asking the public for help in monitoring the state’s wild turkey population.
The state is looking for information about turkey families spotted in Vermont during August.

A turkey brood survey will be on the department’s web site starting Wednesday. People who spot turkeys can record information such as the number of adult males and females, the number of young turkeys, and the date, time and location of the sightings.

Officials say the data will help to contribute to good wildlife management decisions and show the effects of spring and winter weather on the survival of young and adult turkeys.
