A Vermont lawyer who’s representing a terror suspect held at the Guantanamo Bay detention center says he’s eager to learn the details of President Barack Obama’s new policy toward the detainees.

David Sleigh of St. Johnsbury represents a man who carries a passport from Yemen who was captured in 2002 along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Sleigh says his client Faiz Suliman has never been charged with a crime.

On Thursday the president signed orders to close Guantanamo and look at the way the cases are handled.

Sleigh says even though he hasn’t read the order, it’s good news that the administration will review the cases of each detainee with a clear, unjaundiced eye. He says that’s a huge step in the right direction.
