State and federal law enforcement officials say they have solved the theft of dynamite from a Bethel rock quarry last year.

Police say two people arrested Wednesday as part of a long-running ring responsible for more than 100 burglaries of homes and businesses stole the dynamite from the Rock of Ages quarry in August 2008.

Police say burglaries have been plaguing the Randolph and Bethel area for at least two years.

The Barre Times Argus says 21-year-old Thomas Gauthier of Northfield and 18-year-old Jason Hicks of Braintree were arrested Wednesday and are due in court in January.

Two other men are due to be charged with the dynamite theft.

The dynamite was found about a week after it was stolen.
