Two groups of peace activists were in the Burlington offices of Vermont Senators Patrick Leahy and James Jeffords this afternoon. The groups say they won’t leave until the senators agree to vote against President Bush’s $75 billion request to pay for the war in Iraq.

Kimberly Ead of the Peace and Justice Center says there are 13 protesters in each office. Leahy spokesman David Carle says the senator’s staff is meeting with the group. He says they are always willing to meet with groups of Vermonters.
