A Waterford farmer is facing animal cruelty charges police said they found malnourished cows at his farm.

Sixty-three-year-old Reginald Willson is scheduled to appear in court next month. The Caledonia County Sheriff’s Department says five of the twenty cows had died and a sixth had to be euthanized.

The fourteen other cows were in poor condition and removed from the farm. Police say the cows had no grain or water. The animal control officer had received complaints from Willson’s neighbors about the cows roaming free in November.

Officials say Willson agreed to sell his cattle but apparently had not sold the whole herd.
