(Host) Democratic U.S. House candidate Peter Welch says federal grants should be used to make broadband high speed internet service available all over Vermont.

(Welch) “We must have universal access to broadband service that has to be treated much like electricity and it has to come to the rural areas sooner rather than later. Unless we have broadband access it’s going to hobble innovation.”

(Host) The universal internet access plan was part of a larger proposal to help stimulate the growth of high paying jobs in Vermont.

Welch says future economic development in the most rural parts of the state is dependent on the availability of high speed internet service.
