Vermont highways are going wi-fi.
Governor Jim Douglas announced yesterday that eight of the state’s information and welcome centers are now offering free wireless Internet access. The Fair Haven Welcome center went online on Tuesday. Stops in Alburgh, Derby and Highgate are expected to get Internet access in the next couple of months.
Sites in Sharon, Williston, Randolph and Guilford are already online.
In a ceremony at the Williston rest stop, Douglas said the wi-fi access is part of his so-called E-State Initiative, to make Vermont more friendly to business people and tourists.
