Williams breaks down in court during murder trial

There were more emotional moments in court yesterday in Burlington, where the man accused in the Essex school shootings in 2006 broke down sobbing at his trial.

Twenty-nine-year-old Christopher Williams cried as a detective explained crime-scene photos taken after the August 2006 rampage, which killed two people and wounded two others.

Two of the shootings were at Essex Elementary School, although the school wasn’t in session at the time.

At one point, a judge called a recess to give Williams time to compose himself.

His lawyers don’t deny that Williams was the gunman, but they say he was insane at the time and shouldn’t be held criminally liable for the shootings.
