Williams drops request for new lawyer

An Essex man charged with killing two people in a shooting rampage last summer in Essex has dropped his request for a new lawyer.

Twenty-seven-year-old Christopher Williams had told a judge last month that his court-appointed lawyer had said he doesn’t like black people. Attorney Lorin Duckman strongly denied the allegation.

Judge Michael Kupersmith asked Williams to reconsider, and during a brief court hearing yesterday, Williams said he is now satisfied with Duckman as his lawyer.

Police say Williams went on a shooting spree that left two dead and two wounded after his girlfriend had broken up with him.
