Wilmington Debates Benefits Of Hiring Economic Development Coordinator

The town of Wilmington is evaluating whether to hire an economic development consultant as the town continues to recover nearly a year after Tropical Storm Irene.

Bill Colvin has been working under contract with Wilmington on several different projects. He has coordinated long-term recovery with FEMA. He’s also served as the planner for Wilmington and neighboring Dover, filing monthly reports. Colvin has also worked on economic and community development.

Now, officials with the Mount Snow Valley Chamber of Commerce want Wilmington’s select board to make economic development coordinator a permanent town job.

The Select Board has also said it would like to meet with town officials in Dover about continuing to address mutual economic development issues in the wake of Irene.
