(Host) The city of Winooski has a budget for next year. Voters on Tuesday approved a $2.8 million budget. It was the third try since Town Meeting Day in March. Previous budgets reduced the city police force by one and cut a full-time city engineering position to half time.

Pauline Schmoll is city clerk and treasurer of Winooski. She says that in the current budget, a part-time receptionist position was eliminated, which helped to reduce the proposed tax rate increase.

(Schmoll) “With increased revenue projections, and the reduction of the receptionist position, we were able to reduce the increase to 7.71 cents.”

(Host) City voters will be at the polls again next week to consider a $7.2 million school budget. Two previous school budgets have been rejected.
