An Underhill woman who was testifying before a committee of the Vermont House was cited for possession of marijuana and displaying it for the committee.

Capitol Police Officer Dale Manning says Sandra Wells Tungate was issued a citation ordering her to appear in Vermont District Court in April. Off-duty State Police Sergeant William Harkness was in the House Government Operations Committee listening to testimony about a bill that would affect troopers.

Wells-Tungate was testifying to the committee and pulled two vials out of her handbag. Harkness says he left the committee room and waited for Wells-Tungate in the corridor before escorting her to the Capitol Police office, where she was charged.
