A Swanzey woman has been charged with stealing from the Keene Fire Department by posing as a food pantry volunteer.

Twenty-two-year-old Darcy Wilson was arrested Friday, two days after she allegedly showed up at the fire department saying she was there to pick up a box of food donations and to leave an envelope to collect cash donations.

Fire officials grew suspicious because the food drive had just begun on Monday. When they called The Community Kitchen, they figured out that Wilson was a former employee who was not authorized to be picking up donations.

Wilson was arrested when she returned to pick up the cash. She was charged with three counts of theft, one count of attempted theft and one count of attempted fraud.
