A woman who fled New Jersey with her two preschool daughters in 1993 and was found living in Vermont earlier this year faces three years’ probation after admitting what she did in court.

Michelle Kimble pleaded guilty Friday in New Jersey to interference with custody.

Kimble was arrested in April in Wallingford, where she was living under the name of Emily Pels.

Kimble, who says her then-husband was abusive, disappeared from their New Jersey home about a year after the couple separated, as her husband was asking for more visitation with the girls.

Police say no abuse charges were ever filed against Daniel Kimble during or after his marriage to Michelle.

Both of the girls are now college students, but not in Vermont.
