Work is moving forward on Stowe’s new $7.2 million public safety center.

The town’s police and rescue departments are moving to a temporary home, about a quarter-mile away, while the new building goes up on the site of the police and fire stations.

The fire department and mountain rescue squad are also moving to a temporary location.

Stowe’s public works director Justin Rabidoux says the new public-safety center should fully open in about a year.
