A statewide group is using the Terry Schiavo case to promote its long-held view that people should provide written instructions for health care decisions in which they may not be able to participate.
The Vermont Ethics Network says it has posted a new form at its Web site for people to fill out. The form specifies the sort of care a person wishes to receive should they enter a persistent vegetative state. Backers say such an advance directive can head off family disputes that can become protracted legal battles.
