For a number of years young Vermont fiddlers have been learning to play at the feet of Jerry Holland – a master of the Cape Breton style of fiddling. Earlier this year, Holland was diagnosed with cancer. Now a group of his students is pitching in to raise money for him.

The young fiddlers will join a number of internationally known players in a benefit concert later this week. VPR’s Steve Zind visited them at a recent rehearsal to find out why Holland is so special to them.

Note: Jerry Holland’s students will perform in a benefit concert for him this Saturday evening at the Chandler Music Hall in Randolph.
